Gmail Security - Login Activity Log

Great Security Feature From Gmail

Simple... Follow these simple steps to know details about your gmail account activity:

1. Login to your gmail account.

2. Scroll down the list of your emails in the inbox.

3. In the image below, take a look at the highlighted area (in Red) "Last Account Activity". This tells you the last login activity of your account. and it also gives you the IP address of the PC from which your account was logged into.

4. If you want to check the details of the location of the IP, you can also do that, simply by clicking "Details" link next to the activity details to check the location from where your account was logged into. It also gives you details about how your account had been accessed, by a browser (OS), mobile, Email Client and so on. See the image below:

5. If you did not logout of your account while you were at work and are accessing gmail from home, you can also Sign-out the account access from work or other locations by clicking "Sign out all other sessions" as shown below.

Now you can easily now if someone else has used your Gmail credentials, and if you forget to log out from Gmail from any other machine (your home computer or office computer or any cybercafe) you can easily log yourself out from any remote locations.

Reduce Recycle Bin Maximum Size

As Recycle Bin sits on your hard drive, it occupies some space. As the data we delete is something which is not required, hence why would one want to allocate more size to the Recycle Bin.
This is set fairly high by default, around more than 10% of your C Drive which will affect your speed if your available disk space is less. So you can try to set that to 3%, there's really no need to set it higher than that.

1. To do this
right click your recycle bin and then click on properties.

2. Now under the tab Global in the Recycle Bin properties window, move the slider and click apply.

We should always try to see where and how we can save space on our root drive or C drive. This helps in better system performance.

How To Install AGP Card

Install AGP Card

Welcome to our guide to video card installation: -
Most modern video cards use the AGP interface as it offers better performance than the PCI interface; this guide will take you through installing an AGP video card with the aid of text and images.

Do you think you need an onsite engineer to do this for you? if yes then you might want to think here. Its really easy and you can do it yourself too. Here's how -
To install your video card you will need:
  • Compatible AGP video card.
  • Cross-point (Philips) Screwdriver suitable for your PC case.
  • Fixing screw (usually comes with the case or if upgrading use old screw).
  • Anti-Static Wrist-strap (if available).

Locating the AGP slot:
Note: Disconnect the power and remove your PC's cover, see our guide. (If you are upgrading your current video card then you will have to remove it first, to take the old card out remove the fixing screw (for an example see fig 1.4) and then gently lift the card out of the slot, they can be stubborn but if you gently lift one end at a time it will eventually come out (treat it like a loose tooth)).

We have provided an example of an AGP slot in fig, your AGP slot may differ but only slightly.

In fig you can see an example of an AGP video card and we have pointed out the alignment notch.

Installing the video card:
1). Next take the video card (hold it by the edges) and line it up with the slot paying careful attention to the alignment notch, when it is aligned correctly press gently but firmly until the card is seated fully and evenly into the slot (see fig below).

2). When you are happy that the card is firmly in place, insert the fixing screw fig and check to make sure you haven't loosened anything during installation.

Replace the case cover and reconnect the mains power.

3). When you reboot your machine Windows (or other OS) should find the card automatically, it may then ask you to insert the Disk/CD that came with your video card, insert the CD and follow the on-screen instructions to install the video card driver.

4). If your machine makes a series of beeps when you turn it back on then the video card may be inserted incorrectly, again make sure the card is fully inserted into the AGP slot.

Internet Explorer 9

Internet Explorer 9 Features and improvements

Internet Explorer-9 has been designed to view a broad range of web pages including certain features within the Operating System ( Windows Vista and Windows 7 - IE9 does not work with Windows XP ) also includes Microsoft Update.

The first thing you'll observe when launching your new Internet Explorer 9 is that the interface is completely new and takes up very little vertical space. The top toolbar is even more pixel-friendly than Chrome. So less tool bar visibility.

It combines the most important navigation buttons, unified search and address bar, tabs and options buttons all on the same line. You can re-size the address bar if need be, too, to fit your preferences, and all your options are available under one unified button, just like the newest version of Chrome. The address bar is pretty handy, giving you suggestions from your history and from Bing, complete with inline images to help you find what you're looking for. You can, of course, add other search engines if you so desire.

Better Usage Of Hardware from IE-9
The reason for this is that these applications have never taken advantage of the Graphical Processing Unit (GPU.) In other words, they don’t use the acceleration features of your expensive graphic card.

Enhanced CSS3 Support for Developers
CSS is a language used to describe the look and formatting of a web page. CSS specifications are made by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). CSS3 is currently under development but this doesn’t mean that browsers cannot start implementing the standards

Zooming is Good in IE-9:
The zooming can be done up to 400% but that doesn’t break the fonts and make them blurred. The font’s design remains the same

IE-9 is much Faster
IE-9 loading pages with heavy scripts, one would accept that the browser has got faster.

Based on our evaluation - IE9 is the most powerful browser till date.
